October 10 is an important day in my life. That’s the day I started Still I Run – Runners for Mental Health Awareness back in 2016. When I launched the Facebook group and the website, I thought only friends and family would be interested. Almost two years later, I realize I was mistaken. This community has touched almost every corner of the globe since then and I am truly humbled. I’m so happy that the Still I Run community is helping to bring together people that run for their mental health. October 10 wasn’t some arbitrary day I chose to launch this community though. I chose it because October 10 is World Mental Health Awareness Day. It’s a day to raise awareness about mental health issues that happen not just here in the United States, but all over. As a way to celebrate the day, and the two year anniversary of Still I Run, I wanted to gather people together to run (or walk) for mental health.
Group Run Time!
I’m so happy to share that on October 10, 2018, Still I Run will have a few group runs taking place. You can find details and times for each run below:
Grand Rapids, Michigan
Livonia, Michigan
Holland, Michigan
Painted Post, New York
Marathon, Ontario
I’ll personally be hosting the one in Grand Rapids and I have some amazing friends and ambassadors hosting the others. At each race there will be custom race bibs for you to write the name of loved ones on as you walk or run 3.1 miles. There will also be SIR pins, bracelets, or stickers too. Supplies are available while they last. At the Grand Rapids run I’ll have some custom Bibboards (race bib fasteners) and Still I Run hats available for purchase too.
Participate Virtually
If you are not in one of these locations and cannot join us for a group run, you’re still invited to participate virtually! Below you can download a printable custom bib to wear as you do a 3.1 mile walk or run on October 10. Doesn’t matter what time you do it that day either. If you remember, take a pre or post run selfie with your bib and use #stillirun and #worldmentalhealthday! ____________________________ Also, I’d be remiss if I didn’t give a huge shout out to Ashley in Michigan. Ashley kindly designed the custom race bibs for Still I Run. If you’re interested in having Ashley design something for you, she’s available for hire. You can view her work here.
